Quit online dating

No thought other than, nope, not what I think I like.Hair, eyes, skin color, height, weight all became your stats in a world where I had never used statistics to make my choice of who I might be interested in.

There was no energy, no butterflies, no eyes from across the room to say, “Hey, wait there’s something special about this one, and we can’t put our fingers on it.”It was all brain, and no heart in who I decided to virtually flirt with.It took me months to get over him, while he almost immediately got into another relationship. I got into a relationship with a long-time online best friend of mine. I met Janet on a forum for a game (see the pattern? Everything was going well, I knew what I was looking for in a relationship and I truly believed I had found the one. During the two weeks we had her here, I quickly realized this isn't what I was looking for. I didn't want to lead her on and plus I was starting to fall in love with one of my best friends from high school all over again. I'm not saying you can't be happy with online relationships or you can't find one that works both online and in real life.I've witnessed relationships that started online work in real life. However, after partaking in my own dating experiment, during which I went on one date every night for a week, and two dates on Friday, I finally reached my ultimate conclusion. I want to preface that for everything I say, I know there are a ton of people who will disagree, and have the relationships to prove it, but as I ventured into and out of the virtual dating sphere I found out a lot about myself.

Additionally, I know my experiment might sound extreme, but I needed something extreme to happen for me to really give it up once and for all. I Was Bored If you’ve ever been on any of these apps, gay or straight, you know that most of your hunting, swiping and searching is done when you are bored.

I'm not saying you can't make it work, but I'm just saying it's hard and you will get hurt a lot and might even give up on the idea of love (I've seen this happen in real life relationships too, so don't think I'm trying to say you won't get hurt outside of online relationships! My point is, yes, online dating CAN work, but the best way you can go is real life relationships.
